DSL Recovery Key – Instructions

Create your backup

  1. Using a marker pen, write the serial number of your system on the DSL Recovery Key and its packaging
  2. Prepare your Operating System and configure software exactly as you want them.
  3. Attach a USB keyboard and the DSL Recovery Key to available USB ports
  4. Click ‘Start’ and ‘Restart my computer’
  5. Start tapping ‘DEL’ such that when the device reboots, it immediately enters the BIOS
  6. Press the left arrow then the down arrow until you reach ‘UEFI – Generic Flash Disk 8.07/VendorCoProductCode 2.00’
  7. Press ENTER to boot from the DSL Recovery Key
  8. Once loaded, select ‘Drive to Image’
  9. Tick every available box (these are your SSD partitions) to capture the entire disk
  10. Tap ‘Browse’, ‘This PC’ then double tap ‘DSL Recovery Key’
  11. Type any name for your backup image (i.e. ‘backup’)
  12. Tap ‘Start’ then select ‘Shutdown this computer once complete’
  13. The image capture will take between 10-30 minutes

Restore your backup

  1. Power the system down
  2. Attach a USB keyboard and the DSL Recovery Key to available USB ports
  3. Attach your power source and start tapping ‘DEL’ such that when the device boots, it immediately enters the BIOS
  4. Press the left arrow then the down arrow until you reach ‘UEFI – Generic Flash Disk 8.07/VendorCoProductCode 2.00’
  5. Press ENTER to boot from the DSL Recovery Key
  6. Once loaded, select ‘Image to Disk’
  7. Tap ‘Browse’, ‘This PC’ then double tap ‘DSL Recovery Key’
  8. Select the name of your backup image (i.e. ‘backup.lvi’)
  9. Ensure all partition boxes are ticked and click ‘Next’
  10. Highlight the first disk (your SSD) as the target
  11. Tap ‘Start’
  12. Accept the warning bout over
  13. The image restore will take between 10-30 minutes
