Building on the recent release of the ICOP-6270, Datasound Laboratories have announced the arrival of the new ICOP-6240 EBX Board.

Passively cooled at 533MHz with 256MB RAM, the unit provides the ideal platform for a system without any moving parts.

The unit implements the VIA CoreFusion processor with integrated 2D/3D video and AGP2X graphics controller providing MPEG2 acceleration.

In addition to the high performance, the extensive feature list provides suitability for almost every embedded application.

Dual LAN is featured on every unit making it ideal for network based applications and a Mini-PCI expansion slot provides a Wireless LAN option. Furthermore, almost limitless expansion is available via on board PC/104 and PC104-Plus (PCI-104) sockets.

Solid State storage is made possible using either the IDE port (for Disk-on-Module) or the CompactFlash Socket.

Other standard features include six serial ports (4 x RS232, 2 x RS232/485), 2 x USB ports, Floppy Disk interface, Parallel Port and Keyboard/Mouse Support. AC'97 Audio and GPIO are also included within this vast array of feature.

Operating from a single 5V supply, the board measures just 146 x 203mm (EBX standard) and has an operating temperature of -20 to +60C.

Surprisingly, even with its performance and extensive feature list the ICOP-6240 costs just £189 in prototype quantities (1-9 off) dropping to £153 for production (100 off) and is fully RoHS compliant.
