Three new box PC’s have been launched this month by embedded computing specialist DSL.
The base model, known as the ACS-2633, is a low power, fanless ruggedised computing platform packaged in a heavy duty steel chassis with aluminium heat sink flutes and brackets for wall/bulkhead mounting.
A Socket 479 allows ‘post build’ processor options from 1.6GHz Celeron M through
to 1.8GHz Pentium M (specified at order placement) supported by the Intel 852 GM+ICH4 system chipset and up to 1 GB DDR memory.
Dual 10/100 LAN ports satisfy even the most demanding of high speed networking applications whilst the four USB 2.0 Ports are ideally suited for a range of add on peripherals.
Three DB9 connectors provide the usual RS232 communication paths whilst VGA is delivered through a standard DB15 connector.
Mic, Line out and PS2 keyboard & mouse interfaces are provided as standard and a watchdog timer provides up to 256 levels of system reset.
Storage options comprises of a 2.5" Slim anti-vibration HDD bay and/or Compact Flash permitting either a desktop O/S (i.e. XP Pro), a truly embedded O/S such as XP Embedded (free pre-installation included) or indeed any other desired x86 operating system.
With an input voltage range of between 11-28VDC and also with support for APO/ATX modes, installation alongside other electronic apparatus is simplicity itself.
The ACS-2634 has all the features of the ACS-2633 but provides a single PCI slot for application specific expansion and the ACS 2635 extends the number of user PCI slots to two.
Weighing just 4.5KG with overall dimensions of 240mm x 230mm x 80mm (104mm for ACS-2634 and 125mm for the ACS-2635) this trio of highly adaptable fanless box PC systems provide an ideal platform for numerous fit & forget markets including POS Systems, airport terminal controllers and digital entertainment systems.
Prices for the system start at sub £490 for 1 off quantities.
