Two new variants on a theme have been launched this month by embedded computing specialist DSL. The ACS-2663 is a
low power, fanless ruggedised computing platform packaged in a heavy duty steel chassis with aluminium flutes and brackets for wall/bulkhead mounting.
The core engine is the remarkable 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 which, for this product, is supported by
up to 2GB DDR memory.
Storage options of either CompactFlash or 2.5" SATA HDD bay permit either a desktop O/S (i.e. XP Pro), a truly embedded O/S such as XP Embedded (free
pre-installation included) or indeed any other desired x86 operating system.
Interconnections feature two 10/100/1000 LAN ports for high speed networking, four USB 2.0 Ports suited for a range of add on peripherals, two RS232 ports (one 422/485) and independently driven CRT/DVI graphics interfaces.
As you might expect Line in, Line out and MIC in are standard in addition to the ubiquitous PS2 keyboard & mouse ports.
11-32VDC input voltage makes for simplicity of installation alongside other electronic apparatus and a stated operating temperature range of -20°C to +60°C really broadens the number of possible applications.
The ACS-2664 provides all the features of the ACS-2663 but also provides a PCI slot for application specific expansion.
Weighing 4.5KG with dimensions 225mm x 204mm x 80mm (104mm for the ACS-2664) this fanless box PC provides an ideal platform for numerous fit & forget markets including Food, Automotive, Marine, Chemical and Medical.
Prices for the system start at sub £460 for 1 off quantities
(with Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU and 1GB RAM).
