Company Background

Datasound Laboratories Ltd is a U.K. based company located on the business technology park in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire (home of the world's first roundabout!).

After designing its first embedded target platform in 1985 the company grew from strength to strength and then formally became Datasound Laboratories in August 1991. DSL has since been at the forefront of technology and is now recognised as a leading specialist supplier of embedded computing solutions to the OEM market.

Contributing to DSL's product range are a variety of products for PC/104, ETX, 3.5"/5.25" Boards and other formats. Complete embedded systems and Touch Screen Panel PC systems (open frame or panel mount) complete our extensive range of products. Datasound Laboratories is the UK distributor for ICOP Technology, Aplex, Embedded Logic and Tri-M Engineering.

The company's own design focus is to provide embedded solutions via performance optimised, cost-effective target platforms. Original designs were based upon an NEC 'V' series 8x86 code compatible processors. To date, designs include a wider range of x86 architecture including the AMD LX800@0.9W CPU, Vortex86 (SIS550), 486DX, Geode GX1, ElanSC400 and STPC processor engines.

The People

DSL invests in its people. DSL believes that bringing out the best in people gives them room to unleash their full potential. All employees are evaluated regularly to make sure that they have a clear view of their tasks, achievement rate and future plans. In addition, DSL assists employees in any area where they may need further training in order to make them feel at home with what they are assigned to do.

DSL also encourages its employees to play hard as much as they work hard. The company subsidizes trips and also subsidizes sporting events organized by its employees.
